Expedited implementation of Automated Testing Station, Vehicle Location Tracking System; Quick action in transport department

Bengaluru: The state transport department has prefaced revolutionary measures. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that automated testing stations will give a new dimension and vehicle location tracking system will be implemented soon.

Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga reddy held a progress review meeting of the Transport Department at the office of the Transport Commissioner. In the meeting, the minister was briefed about the revenue collection for the year 2024-25 and directed to take all necessary measures including promotional activities to achieve the target of 100 percent revenue collection.

Revenue Collection Details for 2024-25:

  • Annual revenue target- Rs.13000 crore Revenue to be collected by the end of July 2024- Rs 4325 crore.
  • Collected royalty as on end of July 2024- 3534
  • Percentage-82%

85 new motor vehicle inspectors have been appointed to the transport department and the minister advised the officers to use them to increase the promotional activities, new vehicles are being purchased from the road safety fund for the promotional activities of the department and to use them to reach the target of revenue collection.

To recover the outstanding amount of tax, the regional transport authorities should take necessary steps to file a charge sheet against the tax defaulters in the court, the outstanding amount of 6,77,348 D.S.A. Regional Transport Officers directed the officials to take necessary action to dispose of the cases.

Construction of Automated Driving Test Tracks:

Steps are being taken to build self-driving test tracks in all office ranges. Driving tracks are being constructed at Devanahalli, Kolar, Hospet, Gadag, Bellary, Vijayapura, Bidar, Yadagiri, Davangere at a cost of Rs.80.00 crores. He informed that construction works of driving track have been taken up at Tumkur, Yalahanka, Shirsi, Sakaleshpur, KGF, Chintamani, Sagar, Gokak, Ranebennur, Dandeli, Bhalki and Bailahongala at a cost of Rs.72.95 crores. He said that in the year 2024-25, steps are being taken to construct a driving track at 06 places at a cost of Rs.36.00 crores.

Establishment of Automated Testing Stations:

Vehicles coming for Fitness Renewal will have to be mandatorily inspected by ATS from October 2024. In this background, he explained that automatic vehicle testing centers on the DBFOT model are being set up at 13 places where land is available (Devanahalli, Tumkur, Kolar, Shimoga, Davangere, Belgaum, Gadag, Ranebennur, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Bellary, Bidar, and Yadgiri).

Automated vehicle testing centers on BOO pattern are also being set up at 19 locations (Bangalore East, West, South and Central Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Madikere, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, Uttara Kannada, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Koppal and Hospet). He explained.

Soon implementation of Vehicle Location Tracking System:

Installation of VLTDs should be made mandatory for all Private Service Vehicles (PSV) after September 10, and regional transport authorities will take necessary action in this regard. The minister directed to review all the pending cases in the e-governance department and take steps to dispose them at the earliest.
