Bengaluru : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the state government and BMRCL in connection with the case of a farmer being denied entry and insulted at the Rajajinagar metro station in Bengaluru because his clothes were dirty.
Last Monday, a farmer was insulted by not being allowed to enter the metro because the clothes he was wearing were not clean.
NHRC, which has registered a self-initiated case in this regard, cannot deny a person access to public transport on the basis of his clothes. If so, it would be a violation of human rights. BMRCL has issued a notice to the Managing Director to submit a report on this and instructed to submit a complete report on the incident within four weeks .Meanwhile, BMR CL Managing Director Maheswaran said that the metro staff who did not let the farmer in because the clothes were not clean, were fired.
