Bengaluru : India has no dearth of knowledge, human resources and money. There is a dearth of suitable visionaries. Degree is not important for achievement. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari told that we have to use our knowledge and work regularly with proper goals and vision.
Gadkari spoke at a program held in the city on Tuesday after releasing Ramayanam, the biography of businessman MS Ramaiah written by journalist Ramakrishna Upadhyay.
By reading biographies like Ramaiah’s, one can think and study in the present about what has been done in the past and take a decision on how to shape the future. Ramaiah has made a great contribution to our society and country. He said that he has given many talents including thousands of engineers and doctors who are responsible for the progress.
“Bangalore is known as the knowledge capital of India. This is also due to Dr Ramaiah’s efforts to build several organizations in various fields, innovation, entrepreneurship, science, technology, research and the ability to convert skills into knowledge and wealth in general. No person or thing is ever wasted. Waste can be converted. He said that everyone should help India become self-reliant.
Although we are considered a poor country, we have a rich history, strong principles, culture and heritage, which have disappeared in many countries, he said.
Retired Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde said that M.S., who was born in a poor family and worked as a laborer with his father, has made great achievements in the field of education, construction and social service. Ramaiah’s life is inspiring. He said that his biography should be included in the curriculum of schools and colleges as he has done a great job by incorporating culture and values.
Moral values should be part of history textbooks in schools. When I was in school, there was a subject called Moral Science, today it is not in any schools.
