Lamp Lighting & Oath taking ceremony by R V College of Nursing , Bengaluru

Bengaluru :The Lamp Lighting & Oath taking ceremony of the 19th batch of Basic B.Sc Nursing students of R V College of Nursing was held on 14th March 2022 at DAPM RV Dental College auditorium. The lamp lighting and oath taking formally declares the students desire and entry into the nursing profession. The chief guest of the ceremony was Dr. (Mrs.) S. Kantha, MS, Ph.D. First and former Vice Chancellor, RGUHS, Bengaluru. Dr. N. Ramakrishna Reddy, MD, Registrar (Evaluation) RGUHS, and Dr. Bindu Mathew, Ph. D (N) Dean, Faculty of Nursing, RGUHS were the guests of honor. The ceremony was presided over by Sri. P.S. Venkatesh Babu, Chairman, Governing Council, R V College of Nursing, Trustee, RSST, Bengaluru.

The program commenced invoking God’s blessing and welcome speech by Prof, Mamata N, HOD, Medical Surgical Nursing Department, R V College of Nursing. The dignitaries lighted the traditional lamp and also lighted the lamps of the budding nurses. The novice nurses recited the nurse’s pledge and took the first step into the profession. The Annual report of R V College of Nursing was read by Dr. S.R. Gajendra Singh, Principal, R V College of Nursing, who briefed about all the progress the college had made in the last one year. Dr. N. Ramakrishna Reddy, Guest of honour, highlighted on the three ‘H’, that is integration of head, hand and heart.

The guest of honor, Dr. Bindu Mathew, spoke on the importance of ethics in this noble profession. The Chairman, Governing Council, R V College of Nursing, Sri. P.S. Venkatesh Babu, added light on the importance of jyothi and the qualities nurses should possess.The memorable day ended with vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.
